چکیده
Abstract This paper analyzes pronominal competition and its pragmatic consequences in Scottish Gaelic (Celtic). In cases of cross-linguistically, use a particular pronoun can trigger effects like negative appraisal (N-effects). Although exhibits superficially similar pattern appraisal, I show that existing accounts based on referential potential (Sichel Wiltschko 2020) structure (Patel-Grosz Grosz 2017) are unable to capture the pattern. Instead, argue stems from absence positive signaled via exempt anaphors. Following Charnavel (2020), propose anaphors anteceded by null pro log introduced logophoric operator, which requires complement be evaluated perspective ’s antecedent. By using an anaphor, speaker adopts pronoun’s referent, indicating since they willing take referent’s point view. Yet when chooses not refuse make this shift, translates as appraisal. Apparent N-effects are, then, better characterized not-P-effects.

Sequential effects are not trivial context effects in psychophysical research
39 Psychophysical judgements depend on prior events. When the response to the stimulus is affected by both, stimuli presented and responses obtained on previous trials, we speak of sequential effects. Although many psychology textbooks point out to the importance of sequential effects, most of the studies simply neglect them. In Lockhead’s (1992) words, a common assumption in psychophysical sca...
متن کاملWhat are maternal effects (and what are they not)?
Maternal effects can play an important role in a diversity of ecological and evolutionary processes such as population dynamics, phenotypic plasticity, niche construction, life-history evolution and the evolutionary response to selection. However, although maternal effects were defined by quantitative geneticists well over half a century ago, there remains some confusion over exactly what pheno...
متن کاملThe p - cones in dimension n ≥ 3 are not homogeneous when p 6 = 2
Using the T -algebra machinery we show that the only strictly convex homogeneous cones in R with n ≥ 3 are the 2-cones, also known as Lorentz cones or second order cones. In particular, this shows that the p-cones are not homogeneous when p 6= 2, 1 < p <∞ and n ≥ 3, thus answering a problem proposed by Gowda and Trott.
